Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 18, 2018 5:38 pm My Wife and I have property in Sydney, and we are planning on hiring a contractor, and building a house within the next year. As you can imagine there are so many modern and custom home Manufacturers in the market. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share photos or tips on their kitchens and bathrooms for me to get some ideas from. I'd love to see what everyone else did. Any tips and suggestions about the latest modern home designs will be appreciated. Re: Custom Home Builders 2Jul 18, 2018 11:42 pm Hi, Since you mentioned 'modern' and 'custom home', I assume you are looking for something high end ($600K build)? If so, the best place to start browsing is realestate.com for numerous examples of modern designs and styles. I recommend you view numerous houses which are selling for 1.3million and above. Reason is, you will start to notice common features when it comes to facades, exterior/ interior colour schemes, kitchen/ bathroom designs and so on. This will help guide you in the general direction and hopefully narrow your choice selection on modern home ideas. However please note, there will be some nice trending features which will either remain classic or go out of date. So for example, marble splash backs for kitchens and marble counter tops are classic trending designs which feature heavily in middle to top tier modern homes. Regards. Re: Custom Home Builders 3Jul 19, 2018 8:36 am For inspiration I’d go to houzz, heaps of photos of every room, facade etc. In regards to meowys comment, I’m not sure they are in Sydney, if you want a full custom modern home you’d be looking at $2000sqm +, not sure how big you want to build, what area (there is a premium for areas with poor access, i.e. inner city) and what the land is like (fall etc) all these add to the cost. are you looking for recommendations or just looking for ideas at this time? Re: Custom Home Builders 6Aug 20, 2019 10:09 pm I think you need to fix a consultation with some best-repute best builders in Sydney. They are professionals in this work and also they always familiar with the latest trending designs with variations. Re: Custom Home Builders 7Aug 21, 2019 9:05 am Even though they're mostly project homes, it's still worth visiting a display village or two to get ideas, in my opinion. A lot of the display homes for volume builders are kitted-out in the fairly recent style/fashion & a lot of the finishes are optional extras (or not even available) for those houses; they pay some good interior designers to get those houses looking right. In fact, I was more wowed by the appearance of the Alkira, Rawson & Eden Brae interiors than I was by the interior of any of the custom builders who'd built something in the Homeworld village … the custom builder houses were huge & spacious, but you could tell the style & finish of the interiors had been designed by someone without such a keen eye for styling & colours & trends. Although one thought - don't go to an old display village, when we first started looking for ideas Homeworld IV was in the process of shutting down & there were probably only 10 or so homes still available for viewing; Homeworld V was about 6 months away from opening. Those Homeworld IV houses were 10 years old, and their interior designs were all looking pretty ancient. I see that Homeworld V (Kellyville) is still open, most of the houses on the village map have been there … must be close to 7 years now, I don't think you'll be getting any fresh & new ideas from them. Re: Custom Home Builders 8Aug 21, 2019 5:14 pm gogo65 Yes I think there’s is definitely a premium in Sydney, our custom build is definitely over the $2000sqm Agreed. Ours in Sydney is over too. Re: Custom Home Builders 10Aug 21, 2019 11:18 pm What price would be good for you? When you finish design planning of your house you will think about lights there. The only thing I understand well ( because I used to work with it). I recommend you to use philips hue as main lights inside the house. Check reviews about that I don't know if this info would be helpfull for you but anyway I shared.
