My journey with Metricon started in Feb 16 when I made a deposit for Merricks 42. I moved to Glendale 45 during April 2016 Glendale promotion.
I was proceeding with G45 until recently. However, titling of my land was delayed way more than expected. Then I bought a titled land. However, I could not proceed with old pricing of Metricon on this new land. Fortunately Metricon offered me to choose between Glendale 45 LE (April 2017) and Bentley ( nothing but Merricks) which on current promotion.
Metricon has also offered me the titled land discount as I have a titled land.
I have opted for Merricks and made the structural changes to make it very similar to Glendale when it became almost 45Sq. The cost came a little more than G45. However, I have preferred Merricks for the big bed rooms upstairs. The foyer of Merricks is a little narrower. I have gone for open staircase to offset this to a degree.

The structural changes made: Converted the outdoor room as rumpus (going to use as theater) by extending 2.4M in length, this makes rumpus 5M X 6M.
Upstairs - converted two walk in robes as ensuite to BR3 and changed the WIL as WIR to BR3.

I had thought about the garage entrance from the pantry to the front foyer. Might still, much better option. But was worried about clutter there.
Wouldn't the Bentleigh 42 with the current discount been cheaper option for similar result, than starting with the Merrick 42?

Interestingly the construction costs of Glendale 45 (with exactly similar upgrades and structural changes wherein we added ensuite to a BR) and Merricks 45 (with extension) were very much same.
We have added Frosty Carrina (Cat 5) stone with 60mm or 80mm edge for island bench. The size of bench is 1.35 X 2.98.

Yes, that is what I did. I went with Bentleigh and also availed of the titled land discount.
Oh, okay. You have mentioned Merricks in your thread title and post, as they are a different design and cost. So thought otherwise.
With the changes to your en-suite, how much have they quoted? As that is a design I was looking at, but I'm sure they said wasn't possible. But I'm going for the 38.

Today I visited Studio M and the news is Metricon is moving away from Caesar Stone. The new supplier is Silestone. For the ones attending colors from this Monday I don't think Caesar stone is available in the data base.
I was told that Silestone would be slightly cheaper. I was a little disappointed that I wouldn't be able to go for Frosty Carrina (Cat5). However, there is Ariel in the Silestone which looks close to Carrina. The good thing is this one is in Cat 4. However, they did not tell the pricing. Cat 5 in CS is $830 M2. I hope the Silestone one would be cheaper than this price. I just went to M for browsing and not for colors.

Your island is going to be a monster! Glad you found a comparable stone. Personally I think Caesarstone is the best ... though M know what they're doing so I'm sure everyone will still be happy with silestone.
Can't wait to see photos of your build as it progresses, a really nice design.

That’s terrible news. Caesarstone was one of the things that made M standout from some of the others. Silestone is what Porter Davis uses.
Metricon is starting to use cheap and cheaper products, first it was Beacon lighting, Clipsal and now this.
So glad we almost finished building.

Today, I have visited Silestone warehouse to have a look at the whole slabs. It is really a warehouse and not a showroom like ceasarstone one in Heatherton.
My replacement to Frosty Carrina is Ariel and I liked Ariel more than F'carina as it is still whiter. And it is Cat4. The other one I liked is Blanco Orion which looks a little similar to Frosty. Snowy Ibiza also good. Lagoon is a little dull. All of these are in Cat 4.
I guess, after Silestone is in, people would go to either Cat4 or Cat6. Cat5s are too busy or in your face type colors. In C6 Calcutta Gold and Statuario are really good. I don't know the pricing of Metricon, but the guy at warehouse told there is not significant difference in pricing between different groups.

I got the prices for some cats of Silestone. Yes, Silestone is little cheaper than Ceasarstone. M2 prices are as below:
Cat1 -CS $520 SS $410
Cat4-CS$680 SS $610
Cat5-CS$830 SS $830
Cat6 -CS$1,690 SS $1,260
What I noticed the main change is in the type of stone, especially the marble look ones.
In CS these start in Cat5 at a price of $830M2. Whereas you can find very similar ones in Cat4 in SS. A few I noticed are Lagoon, Snowy Ibiza, Lyra and Ariel and these are priced at $610.
The edge prices for 100mm don't seem to be updated in the SQS yet. I found Cat 6 edge at $225LM, not sure if this is old or new price. What I further found is still ceasar stone prices are in the SQS, not sure if they are allowing these in the studio appointments at colors.
