Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 04, 2018 12:15 pm I love the 'show us your kitchen' thread and thought this might be helpful to other people. We're trying to plan our build and are stuck on facade colours so would love to see photos of completed builds, or design plans for builds in progress. Thank you! Re: Show us your facade... 2Jul 04, 2018 12:29 pm This is the facade that we fell in love with originally, the Bellriver Sanctuary, however it would've cost nearly $100k to have it on the floor plan we decided on ![]() So we're back to square one with facades but love the below modern white/grey lines as well as dark grey/black facades too. Anyone go with something similar? I imagine it would also be a low cost option too (both during build and in ongoing maintenance.) Thanks for the photo! You've got such a great contrast between the light and the dark in your facade, did you have trouble deciding? Yes and no. I love contrast, our house is full of it! We borrowed many of the colours from the display, but definitely spent the most time at our colours appointment on the outside. I tend to agonise over decisions even when I know what I want. Bricks were the toughest, we weren't happy with our builders offerings so convinced them to let us use Austral instead (which was on the display but no longer offered), then had to fight for the dark mortar with the dark bricks because they don't normally allow it (some excuse about maintenance, I think batch consistency is more likely to be a problem). Colour girl talked us into a darker shade for the light render, but I went away and got sample pots, painted some boards and ultimately decided to stick with my gut and change it to the light colour we originally wanted. The light render has a touch of warmth to tie in with the light bricks, looks a bit dirty now that the neighbours have gone greyer. I would have liked a monument garage door but it faces west so colour girl suggested the lighter basalt to reduce rippling. I would have loved to have afford a nice/fancy facade but I'm lucky enough to afford a house in the first place ![]() Thanks! I was hell bent on a skillion roof, it was my non negotiable! It wasn't nearly as expensive as it looks. I think we did well, I heard the price went up significantly not too long after we signed up because they realised they weren't charging enough. The display didn't even have the timber running all the way around the skillion, it was just on the font and returned a couple of metres around the side. When i noticed this on our drawings I kept my mouth shut ![]() Re: Show us your facade... 13Aug 20, 2018 9:28 am That is beautiful! Exactly what we were hoping to get originally but I'm not sure if our house design just didn't lend itself to all of the flat angles, but we couldn't. Did you consider white window frames instead of black? We're tossing up between black or white. I prefer the black, my partner the white.
