Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 03, 2018 9:33 am Hi everyone
I have attached a rendering of our kitchen and floorplan. We have no idea what to do with the wall the fridge sits on. We dont like it and neither does our joiner and we are both stumped with what to do. To the left of the fridge (looking at the image) is a doorway leading to the laundry pantry garage. Next to the fridge is a tall skinny pantry and next to that is a built in desk with overhead cupboards. We arent liking the tall skinny pantry, it is just there to fill a space and its not really needed. We just dont think it flows very well from the main wall of the kitchen. We need the desk space, we have 3 children, my husband is a teacher and I am at uni and we are always covering the dining table in our books and computers. Does anyone have any ideas!!!??? Personally, I think it’s OK. The small benchtop gives you a place to put the jug and toaster so they are not next to the cooktop getting covered in oil. Re: Kitchen layout 4Jul 03, 2018 9:55 am Alternatively, you can remove the desk and widen the pantry. Or you make the pantry instead wine rack space? Re: Kitchen layout 6Jul 03, 2018 10:06 am gillybean Delete the skinny pantry and extend the desk area into it (that’s how it’s shown on the main floor plan anyway). Im curently discussing that with the joiner, the problem is cost (we are already $7000 over budget just in the joinery! HAHA) The benchtops are stone, so adding more stone could be an issue, but yes i think this might be the only option...just wanted to see if other people had any other fabulous ideas. Thanks heaps for responding Re: Kitchen layout 8Jul 03, 2018 5:34 pm Daine TiredHalo Alternatively, you can remove the desk and widen the pantry. Or you make the pantry instead wine rack space? We do love wine Ill suggest it to the husband Thanks for responding What about a platter pantry? I’ve done something similar, rather than pile them on top of each other, each one has its own place😊 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn.
