One step closer Tender appointment coming up on Wednesday 22/08. Still haven't got it in our hands. Was told by CLE that we will get it only one day before the appointment as per Company Policy Waiting to see tomorrow how much we have indulged in colour selection and then the tough choices we have to make of what to remove from the wish list. Looks like it will be a long night tomorrow and a long day on Wednesday- 8.30am - 4.30pm FOLLOW MY BUILD: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92532 Re: KDR in Melbourne SE suburbs- Carlisle - Montpellier 51 54Aug 24, 2018 11:49 pm HoneyDee Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Power Pit Installed on 17/08/18. Re: KDR in Melbourne SE suburbs- Carlisle - Montpellier 51 55Aug 26, 2018 8:23 pm Hi Ozshaz, No Surprises at tender. It was basically going over everything with a fine tooth comb. We were lucky yo have an excellent Tender Presenter. Very experienced and very patient. Answered all our questions and made a few changes here and there and gave some good advise too. Now Contract appointment is on 18th September. How are you going with your build? Finalised the house plans yet? Too big for us though. We are interested in one of Carlisle's double storey designs and the sales person said that the 1st floor uses Rmax for the exterior walls. Did they specify which product from Rmax they'll be using for your build? I'm trying to read up on it since its the first time I've come across this kind of cladding. Re: KDR in Melbourne SE suburbs- Carlisle - Montpellier 51 57Aug 27, 2018 9:55 pm Hi lucky7 No idea what cladding they use. Never thought to ask. let me know what you find out. Pretty common construction material. Light good R rating but not as impact resistant as bricks so strictly first floor only. Allows more interesting design without using as much structural steel. Re: KDR in Melbourne SE suburbs- Carlisle - Montpellier 51 59Aug 28, 2018 9:36 pm Hi Kirashogun, Isn’t using foam cladding used as a standard by all builders? Do they mention what type of cladding will be used? There is nothing in our tender. The frame is mentioned - MPG 10, 90mm x 45mm pine frames. I would think all builders would have to adhere to the same standards as regulated by HIA. So many intricacies 🙄 FOLLOW MY BUILD: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=92532 Re: KDR in Melbourne SE suburbs- Carlisle - Montpellier 51 60Aug 28, 2018 10:04 pm No, not all builders use foam cladding. If you check the Affinity brochure on their website you'll see at the summary pages at the back in the section "External Items". It says foam cladding to first floor. It supposedly has good thermal insulation properties. Generally speaking, it does look like it should be limited to the 1st floor but I've come across a thread in this forum where they built a custom home with foam cladding for both the ground and 1st floor. We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 36896 Thanks for your reply! We're definitely not after a small house Might still have a chat to them. Who did you end up building with if you don't mind me asking? 2 2569 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 18893 |
