Our original selection was Silkwort main render with Malay grey on the balcony. Basalt roof and gutters and Shale Grey garage door which looked lovely in the showroom on Prestart day but whenever I searched it the colours looked off. Eventually I cracked and asked our lovely Prestart lady for an address or two we could visit and see the colours on a house and it’s not at all the look we’re going for. It has a warm tone or a green/brown tone to it I don’t like at all. Since then I’ve been trying to rework the scheme. We came across an amazing Hamptons style house in Burns Beach and the owner just happened to be in his garage so my husband said “hey mate we love this exterior, would you happen to know the render colour?” God love him 😂 So as it happens the colour we love is Milton Moon! And this guy had been through this process choosing it, looking at a million houses so he didn’t think we were weird at all 😜 It looks lighter on renders we’ve seen than it does here and I think it’s beautiful. I would in a perfect world prefer to put a lighter coloured balcony but I’ve seen so many where the dirt in between the balcony pavers runs down the front of the balcony and I KNOW that will drive me crazy so think I better go darker. Has anyone used Milton Moon and Timeless Grey together? The other thing I’m concerned about is is Baslat too dark? Some homes we’ve looked at can look dark and some look gorgeous so it’s hard to know how it will look against the Milton Moon. I haven’t yet found one where they are together? My temptation is to go Windspray but have heard this often throws green? Would love any advice anyone has. Balcony posts are lexicon half, front door is dewpoint, windows are pearl white. I never knew grey was such a crazy colour Re: Exterior colours. Grey is the most confusing colour 3Jul 06, 2018 12:12 pm we got few samples and painted on plywood to see the color scheme it was still difficult to decide. in the end we chose what we thought would be good. will see how things work out but with render luckily you can always paint again. Re: Exterior colours. Grey is the most confusing colour 4Jul 25, 2018 10:58 pm We used basalt for our gutters and fascia with barramundi roof tiles and "grey pebble" (light grey) and "stepney grey" (darker grey) render. Our pre start lady strongly recommended timeless grey to us, she said they use it on a lot of displays. It was too dark for my liking so we went with stepney grey which a few shade or two lighter in the same colour swatch. The lighter grey colour is more grey in real life, I took this photo late in the afternoon so the colouring is not quite right. I also agonised over the exterior colour. Its so hard to imagine what its all going to look like together, especially if your going for colours outside of what is usually used. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Exterior colours.
