Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 28, 2018 12:16 pm Hi All, This is my first post here. I'm a first home builder, after meeting with several builders, found Rawson home very clear in inclusions and got a good deal. Now, I'm bit hesitant to commit, not sure if all this is too good to be true. Are you building or have any of you built recently with Rawson homes and how has been your experience with them? Thank you for your time. P.s. I'm looking at Seaview 24 Re: First home help - Rawson homes - NewPark, Marsden park - 2Jun 28, 2018 4:06 pm I'm building with Rawson now and I'm about 95% happy with them. The only place they lose points is that I'd like to have a tiny bit more contact with the site supervisor. There's been a delay with some tiles running out, but the only way I know that is through some "detective work". Our SS is lovely and doing a great job, I just would prefer to know that a delay is happening and why rather than have to sleuth out the information. The build is progressing well, the quality of workmanship is good and I'm happy with the way our house is coming together. I'm also wondering if the current promotion that they offer with the upgraded brick, roof tiles and cladding is worth it more than the solar panels? Hard to decide when I don't know what their standard bricks and cladding range are like. I wonder if anyone here who is building with them knows and are able to share this info with me? Steeden Hi mate, we are building with Rawson and whilst visiting the Chifley display home we had this conversation with the Rawson guys about the new promotion. We visit the Chifley quite often as that’s what we are building and it’s good to dream about one day being in there. Anyway to answer your question about which to chose. What the Rawson guys said to us about the new promotion is, either option is great value but every home has to pass BASIX. Google that if you don’t know what that is but basically it’s being smarter and reducing energy use etc. apparently as soon as you submit that your build will have solar then BASIX issues become far less. We have solar and the Tesla battery which means a huge chunk of our energy used will be off the grid which overtime will be far better than some bricks or tiles.. 🍺 We upgraded our brick and it was only 3k for a 42 square house. So what did you upgrade your brick to? Re: First home help - Rawson homes - NewPark, Marsden park - 7Jul 03, 2018 9:41 am [ So what did you upgrade your brick to?[/quote] We upgraded to a pgh brick called volcanic velour. The advice we got was that austral bricks aren’t as good with there colour as in what you pick has a high chance of not being the same colour when it’s made. Re: First home help - Rawson homes - NewPark, Marsden park - 8Jul 03, 2018 9:47 am Hi Salfield, Yes, I am thinking that if the upgraded bricks is only going to cost $3k, then it is probably more worth while to go with the solar & battery option, given that I prefer the colour bond roof over tiles. Thanks Steeden Re: First home help - Rawson homes - NewPark, Marsden park - 9Jul 03, 2018 10:21 am Steeden Hi Salfield, Yes, I am thinking that if the upgraded bricks is only going to cost $3k, then it is probably more worth while to go with the solar & battery option, given that I prefer the colour bond roof over tiles. Thanks Steeden Yes mate, it’s the better option I think. We also went with a colorbond roof so tiles weren’t an issue for us. Just remember though, like everything else, some bricks cost a lot more than 3k depending on what you pick. 🍺 Re: First home help - Rawson homes - NewPark, Marsden park - 10Apr 09, 2019 6:44 am arunraman7 Hi All, This is my first post here.
