My construction supervisor just called and informed me that gas meter will not be installed by the handover as Telstra NBN line is too close to the gas line. It seems gas company won't install the meter until the issue is fixed. I guess this is a design error from my builder's part.
My problem is the handover was scheduled to be in two days (Thursday 28th, June) and we are required to vacate our current renting place on Monday (2nd July). Without gas there is no heating, no hot water and no meals, and it is winter. I'm thinking we'll have to pay for temporary accommodation or move into the new house without the gas supply.
Is there any protection for house owners in these situations?
Thanks a lot.
