My builder is recommending the saline protection for the slab however I understand that this is effectively the huge black plastic sheeting that separates the earth from your slab.
I have seen the impact of saline in the soil, but all the homes around me have not used this plastic sheeting, and as it costs over $3700 I’m wondering if it’s worthwhile to have a saline test $650 to confirm no saline and remove the possibly unnecessary cost.
Naturally if there is saline in the soil then I have copped the test cost as well as the saline protection cost but since neighboring properties haven’t used the plastic sheeting, am I crazy for thinking about removing the cost?
Thanks in advance.
