Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 28, 2018 5:53 pm Anyone having issues with increased sight costs due to driveway gradients? We are on a relatively flat block with a small slope at the front about a 500mm drop for the first 4 metres from boundary then our land flattens out to pretty much level. Our house is set back 8 metres with our garage 10 metres. We have been told by our builder we require additional excavation of 12K plus 9K to drop our garage 510mm (originally being charged 4K to drop it 370mm). Not having any idea about building is someone able to advise why we would need so much excavation and why we need to drop our garage 1/2 metre? Hi Mish018 Sorry to hear about the latest problem and I don't know the answer but was wondering if it's to do you having to push your house back to comply with the bal ? Hi coref1 it does have something to do with pushing house back but the further back we go the flatter our block is so I don’t understand the further dropping of the garage. Have you looked at the cost of paying for the higher Bal Vs the extra excavation costs? Just a thought. Building Standards; Getting It Right!
