You are correct. In a severe thunderstorm, it can dent and chip paint off colorbond roof but it’s very unlikely to leak or affect performance of roof in long run. Indeed terracotta may break but if you choose the right profile, you can reduce your chance. Hint avoid those flat slate looking tiles. Slate roofs are made out of stone so a smooth profile is not a problem, slate looking tiles on the other hand.... not so much. It reduces strength of the tile making it more fragile.
