Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Two Wells Dechellis Build 141Apr 05, 2019 7:42 am 04.04.2019 Blue board is up, down pipes are on, alfresco ceiling is up, skirting and architraves are done and looks like our ensuite has started being grouted but I couldn't get a photo because of the glare from outside. Our main floor tiling is also done however we are unhappy as the tile line down the hallway is off centre. I had called our SS earlier this week about the main floor tiles and he said that he was there the day before and thought it all looked good and the tiler is experienced so he may have done it to avoid getting to a wall and having a slither of tile but he would check it again. We have photos of the exact display house we are building and the tile is straight down the middle. We hadn't specifically asked for it to be centered in the hallway because we assumed that's what all tilers did. We haven't heard back yet so another phone call today might be in order. We had upgraded our front door and door handle, added a bulkhead and paid extra to have the hallway painted a different colour because we wanted it to look amazing and then they go and put the tiles off center it's just frustrating. BUT if it cant be fixed (without it costing us too much), I have accepted it and hope that once grouted its less of a bother and already have a few styling ideas in my head to take eyes away from the floor. He couldn't say exactly what tiles would have been out/where the small tiles would have been but it looks better since being grouted so hopefully doesn't bother us once we see it properly... if it does too bad, we will live with it. The paint for the ceiling is ceiling white, main walls are powder white and our hallway/retreat and home theater will be scallopini. It already looks so much brighter and lighter, so happy. As for our bathrooms, i LOVE them! They are so pretty! We have no lights in our shower yet so I didn't even try to take a photo as it would have been too dark but we have the same tiles in both bathrooms so in the other bathroom I got an awesome photo! The grey tile is so bold and white tile still has speckles through it so isn't plain. Love our niches in both bathrooms, so handy and also pretty! At this point our PCI should (hopefully) roughly be mid May and then handover 2 weeks later. Is this 300 x 600mm tiles? Re: Two Wells Dechellis Build 148Apr 11, 2019 10:54 am Monkey55 Loving it! Those tiles are stunning! And i love all your window choices Thanks girl! We are so happy, our bathrooms are amazing! The little windows in the lounge are my fav, I'm glad we added them but just have to work out what decorative stuff we will put outside there. Powder white for skirting, doors and architraves and all other walls. Ceiling white for the ceiling everywhere and cornice. Seeing other people's selections come together I'm like damn it, why didn't I do that! Re: Two Wells Dechellis Build 154Apr 18, 2019 2:09 pm NicolleAW Monkey55 Is it bad that I think I love your house more than mine????? Haha aw! I'm sure once you get to this point your house will look like a home and it will be beautiful! There were so many things I didnt even think about, different windows, cabinetry etc... just rushed to get it signed off. Im sure Ill still love it... but could have been so much better. Even now, shirts all over our current house! ahahah Re: Two Wells Dechellis Build 155Apr 24, 2019 10:56 pm I am the same, first time building, if there was an opportunity to start over I would. It is very hard to get everything right, definitely colour selections and small samples to try and imagine. There are so many fantastic looking houses out there with great ideas. Looking forward to seeing mine come together, it will definitely be better than my last! Re: Two Wells Dechellis Build 157Apr 29, 2019 1:58 pm 25.04.2019 Our render has been painted shale grey and in my head it was a whiter colour so it's darker than I thought but it's growing on me. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 28.04.2019 More painting and tiling has been done. The down pipes and the meter boxes have been painted monument. The alfresco ceiling and beams have been painted ceiling white too. We thought the beams we picked picked monument so it might be an undercoat, we will have to check our selections documents to be sure though because we can't remember. SS has said that early/mid May it should all be done and then we have PCI and hopefully handover 2 weeks later. Electrician should be on site the next few days installing lights, data and power points etc. Only downfall is we are waiting on a waste water pump to be installed from a separate company which told us they have a 6 week schedule so crossing my fingers it's done in time and doesn't delay us moving in. We used shale grey all along, I guess from the little sample card I thought it would be lighter. It will be in bright sunshine I’m sure. 😁 One of your first posts had you choosing Oyster bricks and Surfmist render, which is what we have opted for and hoping to see what it looks like on your house pix, but you must have changed it later.
