Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 16, 2018 2:59 am I upgraded the untreated pine frame to "Hyne" T2 Blue termite resistant timber frame in the building contract. However, when the frame had been built, I found the builder mistakenly ignored my upgrade item and built the frame with untreated pine. As a rectification plan, the builder proposed to complete the painting application to the whole timber frame with brush and said the product is exactly the same as T2 Blue timber. Some other compensation is also provided on top of this measure. My understanding is that the T2 Blue timber is saturated by termite proof chemical, so the painted timber couldn't provide comparable protection with the saturated timber. Has anyone tried to paint the untreated timber frame to resist termite? Is this approach reliable or effective?
