Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 14, 2018 6:36 pm Got home early today to find Metricon trades using electricity from our (established/build) home. These Metricon tradies basically plugged into the house external switch and ran their extension cable to the site they were working on, which is located two lots away from where we live. When we confronted these Metricon tradies that they were stealing electricity we told that everyone does this...And according to these Metricon tradies, even though we have photographic evidence, we can't prove how long they been using the electricity, so they not liable to reimburse us for the use of our electricty. Besides calling Metricon's general enquiry line and laying a complaint (which I've already done and which will probably fall on deaf ears). Does anyone have any experience in these matters? Have this happened to anyone else before and do you know what our options are? Spoke to cops regarding the incident and they said that this practice is quite rife in these new build estates. And that these builders total cowboys - doing what they wish. Cops also advised getting a lock for the outside power outlet.
