Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 12, 2018 5:53 pm Hi everyone Was so excited about building a new home. Spent months and months getting the plan and price right. Had quotes from 7 builders and picked the one that was best value (not cheapest) for all the extras we wanted. They allowed a high amount for footings and that has come back shockingly 40% more. Plus $4500 on top of that just because of no specific reason. Is it normal for the base price (excluding footing) to be $4500 more? It’s just a 3 bed 2 bath 2 living single garage home. Single storey not some mansion. I just though that during quoting they know how much windows, bricks, roof etc are and the quote would be accurate (excluding allowances) Re: Variance from quote to cost 2May 12, 2018 6:57 pm I think you need to ask for explanation and justification, 40% more is not on Foremost Building Expert in Australia, assisting with building problems/disputes, building stage inspections,pre-contract review advice for peace of mind 200 blogs http://www.buildingexpert.net.au/blog Re: Variance from quote to cost 3May 12, 2018 7:02 pm building-expert I think you need to ask for explanation and justification, 40% more is not on It’s because the soil is not good. We allowed $25000 because we were worried we were going to end up with E soil. We did plus N3 wind rating so cost around $27000 in the end.
