Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Natnat's house Land Update. We have curb and guttering! 42Sep 21, 2008 7:20 pm Hi sdabel,
The homes picture above are not fairmont homes. we decided to give them the flick. even though they offered free soil tests on the land, the level of finish on there display homes left a lot to be desired. We just picked up our quote from Hickinbotham for the Sam Marion Alfresco Mk2. Its the base house + the following upgrades Upgrade all single power points to double - $150 Upgrade all double power points to 4 points - $190 Overhead cupboards - $1780 Wall oven Pot Drawer and Microwave provision - $965 Flat extended breakfast bar -$220 Ceramic basins in ensuite and bathroom 2700mm high ceiling - $5925 13* pot drawers $2400 It comes out to just under $160,000 with site costs included. so it's under budget so far. So that leaves out flooring / internal upgrades to doors and so forth. but that can be done afterward. Where very happy with that quote, I do think this is the house for us. We spent most of today again going though different display homes and just didn't find anything that impressed us as much as this. Re: Natnat's house Land Update. We have curb and guttering! 44Sep 22, 2008 10:28 pm Good luck with the bank. How confident are you about the footings not going over ?

Hi Sean, we have bumped the price of the footings up to $20,000 for the 'just incase' if it goes over that, well hmm. we will have to raid the kitty. The land broker said that the cost of the slab shouldn't go above $20,000 as most other blocks around ours are coming in around $10,000 to $18,000 so crosses fingers and hope we are not unlucky. Before we go and sign the contract can anyone else thing of anything that is a MUST have for this kind of house? Re: Natnat's house Land Update. We have curb and guttering! 46Sep 24, 2008 3:33 pm Hmm, Hickinbotham told us today that it would be at least Jan 2009 before they could pour the slab and maybe around Dec 2009 before the house would be finished. Does that sounds about right? Re: Natnat's house Land Update. We have curb and guttering! 48Oct 22, 2008 1:11 am I'm trying to build with Hickinbotham at the moment in the Paringa View estate and at the rate they are moving i'm not surprised they have said Dec 09. I signed my contract in April this year and only just received my footings report this week (4 months late!!) after spending 3.5 months chasing them for it. Now I have to wait another 3 months for it to go through council so *^#> knows when they will actually start building it!! Also don't be too surprised if they charge you an extra $9000 for soil removal - that was a really nice surprise.
