Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 06, 2018 11:21 pm Hi all I have no background in building . I built a house from builder on land which had slope at the rear left end. The house is built in 3 steps & The rear house slab has piers underneath them. Builder was not able to resolve retaining wall dispute at rear with Neabour. Hence built the pathway around the house. Obviously pathway was left too long before the retaining wall could be built. So pathway moved away from the house. Now that the retaining wall is built and pathway is not moving anymore. But there is a gap between house brick and pathway. Question is : - apart from asteathically , is it stucturctually dangerous for pathway to have a space for water to go in between house & pathway? The water is not creating any puddles and there is no standing water after rain. - Should I bother removing and redoing pathway at rear? - Can I remove pathway and compact the ground with grass? Or pathways are nessary for houses? Any help will be appreciated. Pics attached before retaining wall and after retaining wall & fence.
