New design is very nice!! Thanks mate. It was a long process but glad to see things are happening. Cant wait to move in already XD Re: 2nd time`s the charm. QLD Modern Mt.breeze 7May 12, 2018 10:46 pm Frames are 95% done exactly 1 month after slab was poured. Noticed one framing issue where one of the door were meant to be 2340mm high but some how ended up with a frame of 2100mm. Site manager said it should be fixed in next couple days. Interested to see how quickly our builder can get it fixed. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Love the view from 2nd floor. QLD Modern Mount Top 8May 12, 2018 11:22 pm As frames are now nearly complete, finally got some time to plan for the "Zero Emission" Objective. The goal is not to make the building process "Zero Emission" but to make the final product zero emission as we live. Zero Emission building requires 2 essential aspects-- 1).requires as less energy as possible to maintain 2). Self energy generation. We have opt for highest possible insulation standard that builder can provide to make sure first aspect is met. Although we can improve energy efficiency a lot through better window hardware, the upfront cost of 2-3 times more than standard does not seem to provide an good investment return. Few other things will also help us achieve lower energy foot print such as hybrid cars, W3 wind rating(less cooling demand), full electric appliances, light exterior color scheme. We have selected this block of land and roof design to ensure maximum solar performance. The plan is to have 50-60 300W solar panel installed and possibly have Tesla Wall 2/3 installed later. This ideal setup should be able to provide us enough energy generation to keep up with all electric cooking appliances and hybrid cars. Got told by energix that each phase can only feed 5kw per hour back to grid. (reason of why almost all residential inverters are rated 5kw or lower). So the highest we can do on 3 phase is 15kw per hour. Although its still possible to go 20kw, it really doesn`t have any economical benefit to go beyond 15kw-17kw. Visited few display homes over the weekend and found one style we really like. And will probably stick with for final product. Two Teslas? I will be following this thread with a lot of interest. Not as fancy as Tesla. Although I do wish I have got 2 of them. Bit update on solar project. Received initial feedback from solar company and now thinking about proceed with more panels and lower wattage per panel to fill one side of the roof. Tesla Wall is a no go at the moment. Apparently Tesla wall has issue with 3 phase solar system over 5.5kw and all installations for bigger system were halted by Tesla. Still went with battery ready inverter with the hope of Tesla wall 3 would come out soon.
