For what you are proposing, the builder still has to do cut/fill, albeit less cut/fill, and a stepped slab on flat base. They will also put a drop edge beam on the downward side of slope. Even more, you will need screw piers as well. After all these costs, you will find that you won’t save much compared to doing a retaining wall. Thanks for your reply.
