For what you are proposing, the builder still has to do cut/fill, albeit less cut/fill, and a stepped slab on flat base. They will also put a drop edge beam on the downward side of slope. Even more, you will need screw piers as well. After all these costs, you will find that you won’t save much compared to doing a retaining wall. My intention was not to save money. Two issues, each retaining wall takes around 20cm off the frontage, so 40cm lost. And When we do our own retaining walls close the the original developers retaining walls it might affect their warranties.
