Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Fairhaven Homes 142Jun 01, 2018 6:49 pm Bronte19 Looks great! Sorry if this has been asked before. Which house are you building with Fairhaven? How long did it take for Fairhaven to start construction after your land settlement? Our land settled today! Super excited! We are building the Iluka but have extended it and changed everything about it. I told Fairhaven we are renaming it after us, as it’s changed so much. Our land was already settled when we signed up but the whole process from sales to finish took 10 months. But we had a lot of back and forth with the sales part and then with developer requirements etc. Re: Fairhaven Homes 143Jun 01, 2018 7:26 pm CalicoCat For those of you who have used Darbecca, did you have to pay for all the inspections upfront? I'd really like to go with them but I don't have that kind of money on hand. You pay on the day they do the inspection. So depending on what inspection depends on the cost. Its not to bad honestly and it will save you heaps in the long run making sure its done right. Re: Fairhaven Homes 148Jun 09, 2018 10:03 pm Bronte19 Tender appointment this Tuesday. Super excited! Any tips for what to look out for in the appointment? Make sure the plans are spot on for everything you want. Check height, location type of everything especially electrical. If its not right it will cost you from here on in to fix it. and when you get to handover if its in the plans thats what they will make it to Land deposit 14 Nov 2015 House deposit 4/9/16 Land title 15/5/17 Quote signed off 28/1/17 Colour selection 21/2/17 Tender appointment 28/3/17 Developer Building approval ??? Super excited! Any tips for what to look out for in the appointment? How exciting Bronte19!! Go over all your selections prior and make any necessary changes on this day. As mentioned above, make sure you check everything on the drawing/plans. We were actually allowed to change a couple of things, after the tender appointment, because the drawings weren’t correct to what we had signed previously eg. benchtop overhang measurents and recessed vanities. Good luck and let us know how you go! Re: Fairhaven Homes 151Jun 10, 2018 10:08 pm GEOnTREY Poniri What else has been done? Excited to see more pics ☺ Nothing more has happened, as we wait for the concrete to cure. We expect the frame to start this Thursday...I’ll update you guys as we move along. By the way, does anyone know the cost to have a shower niche put in?? I don’t know why we decided not to get them, but I’m now regretting the decision. Good luck and let us know how you go! Yes will be going through all the selections tonight. Thinking of making few minor changes. Will probably get Dishwasher provision only and remove the Westinghouse dishwasher we choose at color. Dishwashers are much cheaper at Good Guys. Also thinking of adding junction box either side of the garage to install lights which will be switched after dark, currently we only have a sensor light. Good luck...have fun ☺ Our dishwasher was included but if it wasn't I would definitely get my own afterwards...just make sure they still include the tap and PowerPoint. Will be interested to find out how much for the junction boxes. Are you planning on signing the contract there and then or taking everything home to check and double check? Our shower niche same price as Bronte19. Was considering getting one priced for beside the bath as well (bit longer) but we have already blown our budget so have to stop adding things. Re: Fairhaven Homes 156Jun 12, 2018 1:42 pm I just spoke to them and unfortunately as we have already started construction we aren’t able to add the shower niches. Silly of me not to have it done at colour stage. Our junction boxes cost us $392 for 2. As for the concrete, apparently 2 weeks to cure. They have a start date for this Thursday for the frame so fingers crossed there’s not much rain 🤞🏻 Re: Fairhaven Homes 157Jun 12, 2018 8:17 pm Tender appointment went well. Tender presenter Andrew was really patient and explained everything in detail. We ended up swapping fridge space and WIP. Fridge space was 1.5m wide which was too big for us. Now we will have pantry cupboard in that space and fridge space now 1.1m wide where WIR was. Picked up on 2 things after we got home. Realised bedroom hallways has carpet but we want laminate flooring and also could not see hinged door to WIRs in 3 bedrooms. We added these things at color. Emailed CRO waiting for reply. Contract will be emailed to us tomorrow. Andrew said usually site starts 6 weeks after tender..so fingers crossed. Think we will fit our own sensor solar lights to the front and side. Hope the weather ok for your frame on Thursday. That's the most fun stage I think...walking inside the rooms for the first time ☺ Re: Fairhaven Homes 159Jun 12, 2018 11:55 pm Bronte19 Tender appointment went well. Did you get charged extra to switch the fridge/pantry? That's a great idea! We already told them about the hallways laminate flooring but haven't got it in writing anywhere. How much extra are you being charged for that? Did you find out the price for your wall tiles? 6 weeks will fly by ☺ Re: Fairhaven Homes 160Jun 13, 2018 8:55 pm GEOnTREY Bronte19 Tender appointment went well. No extra charge for switching fridge space with Pantry. No extra charge for laminate in bedroom hallways. Wall tiles were included in our package I think.
