Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 23, 2018 11:14 am Hi All, This is my very first thread but I have been reading thru' some of the posts and have always found it helpful. I am here as I thought would definitely find some help to move forward in our building process We always wanted a custom home and had been working on the design for over a year now. And finally when we are happy, we have send the plans for Architectural Review Committee of our estate and they have come back saying we have to change our facade. There are other houses in the estate which has got the same type of facades and they all got approved and built. I have emailed the review committee stating the fact that there are other similar houses built in the estate, but they din't even address that . Instead again has sent us an email saying we need to make the changes if it needs to be approved. We went and talked to our neighbours who have built similar facade and they never had this problem from ARC. Reading thru' some websites, I cam to know about lodging a Conciliation with the council, but not sure if that would take issues with ARC. Is there any other way to handle this situation. Can some one please guide us as to what to do next as this is the first time we are building a house Re: Architectural review committee (ARC) design approval iss 2Apr 23, 2018 12:00 pm I would request a face to face meeting, ask why, then ask what they would want to pass, you should find them a lot more reasonable in person, it's so much easier to say no when your not there in person, just be prepared really well, if you get no where, then take the next step. Good luck. Re: Architectural review committee (ARC) design approval iss 3Apr 23, 2018 12:10 pm Thanks for the reply We did approach her via the sales person of the land and apparently she said that she used to approve that type of facade before but now she has stopped approving it. In the covenant, it says modern/contemporary design and nothing more. Our house has got bay windows and round pillars and she wants us to remove those. As I mentioned before, there are many other houses built with bay windows and round pillars. And there are many Hampton and French facade houses as well none of which are modern/contemporary As you suggested, will try to meet her in person. Problem is she sits in an office which is 1.5 hr drive from our place But need is ours, so will try that. 2 7734 12 5318 i thought the flipped plan initially but bec i want narrow pathway from entry to dining (dont like bend), also cannot fit the… 7 17260 |
