Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 20, 2018 5:45 pm Hi, we are deciding what sort of roof we can have over our Sheridan 34 alfresco. Clarendon have said they only do proper roof over alfresco. The alfresco is quite large, 10 meters by 3.5 meters and I am worried if we get a proper roof, it will cause the living and dining to be dark inside. Can you share pictures of what you may have done with your alfresco, otherwise comment on whether alfresco does make it quite dark inside? Or has anyone half covered the alfresco with a roof? Thanks anything helpful is appreciated. We can also half cover the alfresco but not sure if that will be enough coverage. Our house isn’t finished yet but I do have photos of our alfresco area which is 95% done... we got a proper roof over ours. But we also have bi-folds which should lighten the kitchen/living/dining area up. If facing North, retractable vergola is a much better solution not only from the natural lighting perspective, but also from the perspective of passive heating during winter. However we realized that we could install a skylight inside the home as we have a section in the family room just covered by roof, not first floor of the house.
