Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 18, 2018 9:18 pm Hello everyone, Long time stalker and now finally a excited build start. We had been waiting for 5 years for this to come to tuition and now it has. So after being set on the nolan 50 early on, same as glendale 50 or doulton, the franklin 53 become available to us really late on. It made so much more sense as we have a large block, but not that deep of a block 19.8 x 37.9 (750 squares) so it fit so well being a big square instead of a long rectangle. Also the wife was very happy with going away from every bedroom having a ensuite. Anyway lets get to the build. After a long time in admin we have just gone to site and have slab scheduled for the 3rd of may. Exciting much!! We modified the franklin by - switching the master to front - created an extra very large wir to master, will have one of those buffet things in centre - removed private balcony option as council privacy rules would reject it anyway - tripled the size of alfresco - changed garage door entry to house - closed in pantry to be very large. (didn't see reason for the walk around) - re located linen downstairs - changed upstairs powder to be on perimeter next to bathroom I'm sure there is more, it will show in plans For upgrades where the $ were flying out the door were - 3m ceilings down and 2.7 up - insulation upgraded through out - front entry 1.2 pivot door - wembley facade - brick stack bond to pier and rendered garage - hebel upper story and render finish - luxury package which includes many things - timber stackers to rear - stair case semi cantilevered to bottom half, landing extended, glass balustrade - extended garage 7.2w x 6.5d, creating rear roller door add on and access - kitchen island 1.35x 3 - 2pac kitchen cupboards to main area - 40mm to bench tops in kitchen and butlers - over heads and fit outs to most room - dropped ceiling to kitchen - coffered ceiling to entry - large stacker to study - outdoor kitchen provisions - fridge water out let behind over heads - all wir fit outs - 10kw solar system there are more but can't think anymore on the spot I will upload the plans shortly Iv'e had to edit as i don't know how to do a post again on it's own with out replying to my own post. Someone shed some light please Re: Metricon Franklin 53 modified 2Apr 18, 2018 11:02 pm Wow, great to see your design. I loved the Franklin 53 and wanted to build it for ages, since we have a wide block. Looking forward to following your project! Re: Metricon Franklin 53 modified 3Apr 19, 2018 10:46 am Hey Stoff, What a monster of a house your building, wow. There is a Franklin 40 on display on the Gold Coast I have been through a few times and it is stunning. Cant wait to see your plans and selections. Great news you guys have started and your slab is due in a fortnight, we have just started too. I find it easier to use Homeone on my phone, there is an app called tapatalk, down load and select homeone forum, subscribe to your own thread and you can upload photos from your camera roll to update your thread. I use email on my phone to screen shot my plans etc to upload them instead of doing it on my laptop. Hope that helps. Looking forward to following along. Re: Metricon Franklin 53 modified 5Apr 19, 2018 11:57 am Thanks guys, very exciting times. Tribe i'm going to take your advice and try on my phone. Hopefully you will see some pics soon Re: Metricon Franklin 53 modified 6Apr 19, 2018 12:45 pm Re: Metricon Franklin 53 modified 7Apr 19, 2018 12:51 pm So in the end I just screen shotted my printed plans. I think we are all good. So you will be getting plenty of spam now Just a follow on from upgrades. We also got floating vanities to all bathroom/powder rooms. Electrical was very lucky as they have allowed my brother to do it as he has his own electrical business with all the cards/insurances and requirements Re: Metricon Franklin 53 modified 8Apr 19, 2018 12:55 pm Aww yeah, that's a nice Franklin. Do you think you have enough space for your clothes? Love the big laundry and also the entrance from Garage through the pantry. Love the big laundry and also the entrance from Garage through the pantry. haha. Yes my wife requests were big laundry and big wir. I think she got what she wanted and she gets her own make up/dresser table which will be next to the shower. But in all seriousness the bedroom which it was from the hallway would of been pretty much un used, so to have our bedroom with a his and hers made sense to us Re: Metricon Franklin 53 modified 10Apr 19, 2018 6:07 pm Tribe7 Hey Stoff, What a monster of a house your building, wow. Hey Tribe, thanks for the heads up, i wish we had a franklin to look at. We are in Adelaide and there hasn't been a franklin on display here to compare. Although the set up of the 40 is different to the 53. May i ask what design you are building? Your plans look fantastic, that WIR is huge but very useable and will look amazing all decked out in cabinetry. I like a big laundry too so tick there. Great progress with the KDR, your block is so very flat. The Gold Coast Franklin 40 is a stunner, they have vj walls it’s a real beach theme. I met another sales consultant at a display home. He reckons the Wembley is the best facade out of all of them.
