Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 15, 2018 2:15 pm I am in the process of planning to build a new home and facing the "project vs custom builder" question. A project builder is cheaper for a basic to medium spec home, however a custom builder will allow us to buy and/or install or complete some things ourselves, so we can save money that way. My question is... Does anyone have a list of prices they paid for basic to mid level generic inclusions that are willing to share? Or even a prices of an entire build, broken down in detail? I realize it's kind of a "how long is a piece of string" question, and could vary significantly, but will give me a fair idea of where I can save money myself. p.s. I am relatively handy, and have family in a couple of trades. Thanks in advance.
