Browse Forums Building A New House Re: project builders - your experience 3Apr 15, 2018 8:21 am Brenton41 ang001 Hi, We're about to build for the first time. We're in Brisbane, QLD. We were deciding between Metricon and Plantation after working out pretty quickly the smaller builders cost quite a lot more. I've just googled the two companies though and the complaints and negative feedback on some sites have me worried. Hubby thinks it's a case of only hearing about the complaints. Should I be scared off or will things be ok with regular site visits and keeping a good eye on things throughout the process? Such a BIG decision to make. Thanks Ang We built we Metricon for our first home back in 2015 on ththe Gold Coast. We were pretty much an entry level house with them and found we sort of got what we paid for. Trades probably weren’t as good as you might get in those more expensive builds. Painters didn’t even speak English. All in all the process was good and easy. They don’t like many changes though. We ended up tiling ourselves afterwards for the main floor because they tried to double charge us to change to a nicer tile. This time around we are building with Nutrend on the Gold Coast. Not private but not a huge builder and family owned. Hope that helps. Thanks Brenton41.
