Foremost Building Expert in Australia, assisting with building problems/disputes, building stage inspections,pre-contract review advice for peace of mind 200 blogs http://www.buildingexpert.net.au/blog Re: Independent Building Inspector 42Jan 11, 2019 12:57 pm As a way of adding something parallel to this interesting discussion, I received a quote today for inspection reports at each of the building stages, and it was fairly unsurprisingly mentioned that the cost of inspections depends on the amount of bathrooms, the size and complexity of the home. For my double-storey 42 sq, 4 bed, 1 ensuite and 1 bath property the quote for all stages + final/reinspection is almost double what blackcat20 mentioned above, which is pretty logical when comparing the sizes of the projects. YMMV. r_13 Re: Independent Building Inspector 43Mar 05, 2019 3:33 pm Agree r_13 - the cost was more for us too. We are also building a 42sq home. It makes sense as there is more house to inspect! We ended up going with Houspect, as they were about $1,000 cheaper than Darbecca. These two companies had been recommended to me. I would send it to the certifier who is technically your representative and working on your behalf not the builder's 1 2264 That is a really good attitude Akin to you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I do enjoy watching that tik tok inspector from Victoria but he does go a little… 12 81883 It is true that a builder can ignore your independent inspection report as it is not part of the contractual arrangement but that is stupid because he cannot avoid fixing… 9 46854 |
