Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 04, 2018 8:39 pm Hi Everyone, My partner and I are building a house. We signed working drawings at the end of February. They were all ok and everything looked how we wanted. I received today amended working drawings and they have added is an extra 12 metres of retaining that they did not state in the ones that were first signed. I did not receive any notification, I was just asked to sign the new ones because there was a change to the vanity indoors and weatherboard was needed on the front of the house. What can I do about this? We got a quote for the original retaining and was added into our loan with the bank. But now as there is apparently extra there will be a higher cost. The retaining is also not being done by the builder.I'm not keen on the extra cost that this will incur. If I knew about this when in the initial stages it would not have been a problem as we would have got a quote for it. I am quite unsure of what I can do to rectify this situation. Any help appreciated. Pic here of the retaining changes. Re: Signed Initial Working Drawings Incorrect 5Apr 05, 2018 8:08 am ja2000 Is the retaining wall is necessary due to the sloping block and degree of cut and fill required? Yes the retaining wall is necessary. Re: Signed Initial Working Drawings Incorrect 6Apr 05, 2018 3:03 pm Did you notice that on the initial plan it says 1.5m high and the second says 1.0m high. Even with the extra length, it should cost less to do the second longer lower wall than it would to do the first higher shorter wall. Constant What you have posted isn't really readable and also needs to be compared to your architectural plans. Happy to have a look if you email me at 1 863 Thanks very much! And would the landscaper/contractor generally involve the engineer or is that something the client would do?
