Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 04, 2018 6:59 pm Hi everyone, I've been reading a lot about opting to organise things for the house post build instead of going through the builder as it's generally a significant cost saver. I've got a small list below, but would love to know what others have done in this space. Post build: - Shelving/storage for WIR/robes - Laundry shelving/cupboards - Alfresco area - blinds/window coverings - shutters/window awnings I am sure there are many more things. Any ideas? I have my own electrician and will be purchasing the lighting myself as i have a good relationship with the local lighting store. Another thing I’m doing myself is my kitchen bench tops and splash backs. The builder’s kitchen company charges some incredible amount for stone bench tops. We were able to get temporary bench tops for the build and are doing all the stone in the kitchen and butlers pantry and the splash backs ourselves after handover. This is about a third of the cost of doing it through the builder. It also made the under bench sinks way cheaper because the kitchen company wanted just over $1000 for them because of polishing the stone around it. Our stone guy said we could supply our own sink and it’s $100 to polish. The DIY project can be broken into two major steps. Planning and Design and Construction. Both of these steps are as important as one another to ensure you give… 0 5175 It seems very clear to me that your contract states that a security account does NOT need to be established so the answer to the builder is NO. If in doubt find a contract… 1 8510 2 31355 |
