Interesting addition above the kitchen... future storage nook?
Thanks kingtaco, I’m still not 100% sold on the en-suite feature tiles. But I agree, it looks better with the mirror 😀
Yes, interesting addition to the kitchen haha!

Re: Building a Metricon Glendale 42 Limited Edition in Melbo 443Aug 12, 2019 10:51 am dulie You got so close to the ceiling with the tiles, any reason why you didn't just go all the way up? haha! yes, you noticed dulie! We never planned to go all the way to the top, mainly as we had been told that it can highlight if your ceiling edging is not straight etc. But also, we made a mistake when basing it on the display home. The display home we visited many times had the tiles going to the top of the door frame. We decided to do the same - but what we didn't realise at the time... while the display home had 2.5m ceilings like we do, they didn't increase internal door heights - but we did. Therefore, we weren't actually planning for the wall tiles to be so close to the ceiling - the visual from the display home had them finishing lower down due to the lower doors. Looking back we probably could have just gone to ceiling. But we aren't too fussed. It's a brand new house, everything should be straight and square. Even it was a few mm off here and there, the tilers have be able to cope no problems. If so I can only suggest this is because the bath is above that hole and it is additional support for the weight of the bath. We didn’t specify any steel battens throughout the house and I certainly didn’t see you need to be honest while it was being built. 😊 Re: Building a Metricon Glendale 42 Limited Edition in Melbo 451Aug 26, 2019 8:36 am Macher shokel1975 We’ve had a productive few days... all ppts and switches installed, mirrored wardrobe doors are on, en-suite mirror is up, linen press shelving installed and shed electrical has been roughed in. I thought this was only for square set cornices but you have the standard cornice. Is there any other reason for the battens? The steel battens is basically to screw in the plasterboard. Steel battens attached to floor joist and plasterboard to the battens. It's not structural support for the 1st floor. Common to do these these days. Re: Building a Metricon Glendale 42 Limited Edition in Melbo 452Aug 29, 2019 11:18 am Not much to report at the moment. Currently getting under stair storage framed & plastered. Plasterers are fixing areas where walls were bowing too much over studs/wall supports, as well as some cornice that was not straight. Shed is getting plastered internally as well. Gas has been connected and this week we received messages from AGL that our electricity account has been switched over to us (i won't be paying the bill for anything prior to hand over lol). Hopefully only about 4 weeks away from PCI. But good thing is that they are currently working on most of the issues we found at our last walk through, so there shouldn't be anything too big to fix after PCI, just cosmetic stuff hopefully. In the home stretch.... our current house will be on the market next week. Hopefully it sells quickly - not looking forward to the constant pressure of keeping the house perfectly clean and tidy with two kids living there!
