Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 22, 2018 2:42 pm Hi all, Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this forum. I've been bowled over by the community here, with so much great information being shared. We're looking at doing a Knock Down / Rebuild (KDR) somewhere in the not too distant future and it got me thinking about how we'd deal with our existing in-ground pool. From preliminary discussions with some of the builder's sales people, I'm currently lead to be believe that in this situation there would have to be a "hard cover" installed over the pool for OH&S reasons before the build phase kicks off, so my questions are as follows: 1.) Will the builder take on the responsibility of covering the pool or is that something that I will need to organise before the site is taken over by the builder? 2.) By virtue of the pool being covered and electricity being cut to the site, it would seem that any pool maintenance would be out of the question prior to accepting the keys. How have others tackled this? Am I basically resigned to having to empty the pool beforehand? 3.) I'm assuming that all new pool fencing would need to be in place (and inspected?) before the temporary security fencing around the site is removed. Is it likely to be difficult to get a fencing company to be able to work onsite before handover to accomplish this, or would it have to be done through the builder? 4.) Is there anything else that I should be catering for or considering ahead of time for this situation? Any insight you can provide would be much appreciated. Hi everyone, Looking for some advise.
