Hi,
I'll be getting a slab put down in the near future for a new house build. I'm considering being an owner builder and had a question about the depth of the excavations required for the slab.
A graphic from the engineer is this:

And one of the notes is this:
All slab edge beams to be founded not less than 400 mm below natural surface and 100 mm into firm natural material.
There is about 200 mm of fall from one end of the slab to the other (approx 14 m). I'm in a wheelchair so would like the slab as close to ground level as is safe to do, to minimise ramp lengths.
I wanted to check if my reading of the engineer plans was correct. It shows 400 mm as the minimum depth of the beam but that would only be achievable if the slab was level with the ground right? So if my slab was 100 mm above ground I'd still need a 400 mm deep excavation? Then at the other end of the slab it would be dug down to 400 mm as well, with 300 mm of concrete out of the ground?
Would appreciate the clarification
