Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 12, 2018 9:04 am Hi everyone, We are about to start our adventure on building our first home with Valeco, we have been happy so far, interested to hear from anyone else how the process has been for you, the good and bad. Looking forward to sharing our build with you all. Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 2Mar 12, 2018 10:10 pm Hi Tashmc How exciting!! There are quite a few Valeco builds in here atm. I'm sure they will all pop in to say hello. My partner and I have almost finished our build with Valeco in Spring Mountain. For the most part it has been good, a couple of hiccups which are to be expected with any build. One fairly major stuff up, which is in the process of being fixed.. hopefully it will work out okay, we will see. The most frustrating part from our experience has been the lack of communication/updates. This has come from the constant change over of Site Supervisors. We dont know when our PCI is yet... but our contracted date is approaching (8th April). It could still happen, fingers crossed! I won't go into details in your thread but feel free to jump onto mine and read more. Did you choose one of their designs or are you doing a custom build? Have you had your colour selection appointment? Would love to see! Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 3Mar 13, 2018 8:56 am Hi Staceyrusell, Thank you for your reply. I checked out your thread, your house looks amazing, love all of your colour choices 😄. We are building in Griffin, and building a modified tide 22, no colour appointment as yet, but look forward to sharing with you when we do. We have just signed the contract that itself has been a process 😂. Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 4Mar 13, 2018 5:40 pm Hey tashmc - agree with Stacey, just make sure you keep in regular contact with your consultant and your site supervisor when building starts. Staff changes has definitely affected builds. Although i'm hoping they have now sorted it out. I'm sure it will be fine by the time you start building. Anyway the Tide22 is a great plan - super huge living area Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 5Mar 17, 2018 9:04 pm Hey gr8ly, Thanks for tour reply, the tide22 does have a huge living area but we have taken a fair chunk of it out to create a media room. I'm just Hoping it works in real life (looks good on paper to me but so unsure) What house are you building? Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 6Mar 18, 2018 1:30 pm Ours is based originally on the Kalbarri, and then shared with a couple of other designs.. Then we modified it again - rearranged kitchen, extended width, repositioned a couple rooms, and changed orientation. It basically become a custom design at the end. And there would be plenty of room for a media room in yours. Makes more sense if you want somewhere else to escape to and be messy, while the living room remains on display haha - or maybe that's just me. Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 8May 03, 2018 1:17 pm Oh yay congrats any progress is good progress Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 11May 03, 2018 7:40 pm That's not good to hear, how long has your process taken so far? I did see 1 build that is coming along very fast, we have been given a 6 month build time if all goes to plan, but I'm not sure if that is good or bad. Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 12May 03, 2018 7:44 pm ours is about 7.5 month timeframe - two story though. I think 6 months is reasonable. Typically most finish before the allotted time.. In saying that we started before xmas and we aren't even at lockup! The single level homes have all been quick, so you'll be fine Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 13May 03, 2018 10:15 pm building the dream house is certainly exciting! Congrats Admin stage is usually the hard part. Once in construction, everything will happen rather quickly. Looking forward to see your build Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 14May 07, 2018 10:35 am Hi Tashmc, so exciting to be building your home! Welcome haha. Cant wait to see your plan and when you go to selections - that was so exciting for us! As others have stated, Valeco is quite varied in their build times and customer experience. I think its well known now that the company are having some troubles with their site supervisors. We are building a modified Moreton 24, and so far could not have asked for a better experience. We love our SS, he is great with communication and so organised! We have often found him on our block cleaning the site from rubbish himself when no trades are there. We are just starting week 8 and are 'Unofficially' Locked out and were notified by our SS that we are about 6 weeks from finishing. I dare say though, that we just got lucky. it must be incredibly frustrating for other builds on Homeone. I wish you all the best and hope you have a great experience! Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 16May 07, 2018 1:57 pm pretty happy with the plans we only had minor changes, sliding door direction on the side wall, and removed cupboards above the oven to have an open range hood. added a skylight into the ensuite and above the kitchen island and oven, but other then that it was just electrical changes. just waiting for our colour appointment now. Thanks Our build time was 182 days or 6 months. Our estimated completion was meant to be 25th September.. Our SS told us straight away it would likely be 1-2months prior to that, Re: Valeco first time build North Brisbane 20May 07, 2018 6:04 pm Looks great! Absolutely love the skylights, wish we'd have thought of that! So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point.
