Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 09, 2018 10:42 pm Dear All, We are building a Metricon Bordeaux 56 in Sydney and will be sharing our construction journey with everyone! We gave the initial deposit in Dec 2016 so this has taken a looooooong time. We are up to construction stage (finally) and piers have just been done this week. The slab is due to be poured next week (Likely Tuesday). The final house size is 57.75sqr Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We have decided to use Houspect for the inspections. Total 5 stage inspection (slab, wall & roof frame, pre-lining, waterproofing, pre-handover). Re: Our Bordeaux 56 Build in Sydney 3Mar 09, 2018 11:05 pm Hi k3nnis, It took us quite some time to find the large land, as most new lots are much smaller. We actually saw Metricon Bordeaux display home in Balwyn (Melbourne) before we bought the land. So we ensured that land was big enough to fit the Bordeaux 56 before we bought it. Plus we needed two master bedrooms - one for my parents and one for us - so we had to customise one of the bedrooms on first floor to get ensuite and large WIR. Metricon is charging us almost $900K for the build ($892,553). And the 700square metre land was another $950K. We ended up paying a premium price for the land as this was the only one we could find with the length to fit this Bordeaux Re: Our Bordeaux 56 Build in Sydney 4Mar 10, 2018 10:51 am Hi so you came to Melbourne to view the display home? That's commitment and thorough research . Look forward to following your build. All the best for construction. Re: Our Bordeaux 56 Build in Sydney 5Mar 10, 2018 12:45 pm Thank you, Spice Girl We visit Melb periodically (when visiting inlaws) so made several trips to Balwyn at that time. There wasn’t a Bordeaux display home in Sydney until recently. Also the new Bordeaux display in Sydney is the Bordeaux 56A plan (with spiral stairs in the middle), which is different to the original Bordeaux 56 in Balwyn. Ours home is more similar to the original Bordeaux 56 rather than the Bordeaux56A. Re: Our Bordeaux 56 Build in Sydney 7Mar 10, 2018 4:41 pm Good luck on build journey, looking forward to seeing more pics!! Can we start with your house plans? Re: Our Bordeaux 56 Build in Sydney 9Mar 10, 2018 5:22 pm Did it cost $700K to build or was it $700K for land + construction? Re: Our Bordeaux 56 Build in Sydney 10Mar 10, 2018 5:25 pm I visited today and discovered that Metricon has already laid the waffle pods. Looks good...all ready for the slab pour Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ That’s all that I could see through the fence Re: Our Bordeaux 56 Build in Sydney 12Mar 11, 2018 5:43 am Congrats on the start. Thanks for sharing, I'll be following I'm curious about how you laid out the additional master bed for your parents, as I am in a similar situation. I need a large bedroom with WIR and ensuite for them as we anticipate they will be moving in with us in the future. I have zoomed into the Bedroom 3 layout below which is significantly changed from the original plan. Houspect inspected the slab for us last week after the pour and provided their report. The interesting items are as below. I had to call them after the slab inspection to say ‘uh what about these things I’ve found and you missed?’ So they had to adjust the report. Your house is going to be spectacular ! We have deposited 5k and are in the stages of preparing a tender. Just wondering if the $892,553 includes upgrades for your build? Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
