M has drafted it 1.35x 3.36 as they got confused with overhang. Now I can keep this or ask for a correction. If I keep as it is , would it look odd and awkward for its size? The Island bench will have pot drawers on the rear as well with a openshelf at the corner (dining side). It does not look congested as the dining area is not too small however will it look like a monster? Can you please comment. Also, the dropped ceiling in Sentosa/Balamaine would extend until the separating pilliar(?) towards the dining area. Which means it needs to be wider by 30cm. will it be ok as it appears now, or should extend that 30 cm. Thanks in adv for comments. Re: Is this Island bench going to be a overkill? 2Mar 04, 2018 11:59 am It’s going to be big but it lines up with the kitchen and there’s plenty of space to get around it. I personally would prefer the bigger the better as I would use the island for eating more than the dining and for entertaining. Plus can never have enough bench space! I’m sure it will look great either way Re: Is this Island bench going to be a overkill? 5Mar 04, 2018 3:54 pm Don’t think it’s overkill at all. I think it will be amazing. You have plenty of room to walk around it. You’ll love it. Great floor plan by the way. What home are you building? You will be glad that it's big. My island bench is 3.2m by 1.2m , see pic below just to give you an idea. You will love it. Check if you have enough leg room under bench. Silestone slabs are bigger ones, if I am not wrong they can go upto 4/5 meteres. Mine is Bentley which is nothing but Merricks. Standard plan is 42Sq, but extended the ground floor to have rumpus similar to Glendale. The rumpus I am going to use as a dedicated home theatre 6mx5m You may have a look, if curious, at my thread Merricks 45 with Metricon Re: Is this Island bench going to be a overkill? 9Mar 04, 2018 6:55 pm Might be worth checking the largest slab size available - my understanding is that Silestone's largest slab size is 325x159cm (see their website at https://www.silestoneoceania.com/silestone-formats/). Unless there's an additional 'hidden' option, it might be worth reducing your length slightly to fit within those dimensions, otherwise you'll end up with a join (which for me, at least, wouldn't be worth it for just 11cm). Re: Is this Island bench going to be a overkill? 11Mar 05, 2018 6:48 am Clean Silestone - Ariel. This looks very close to Frosty Carreena of cesar stone. Engineered stone comes in set sizes. If you want the island bench to remain that long you will probably need to pay for an extra slab and the top will have a join in it. Re: Is this Island bench going to be a overkill? 12Mar 05, 2018 12:29 pm We have selected the same size bench with 80 mm thick stone wrap. I love the large island bench. They look amazing. It’s prob one of my favourite choices in our build shazaw No it is not overkill, It will look very nice!! You will be glad that it's big.
