Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 03, 2018 2:20 pm Hi all! We are building in Marriott Waters, Lyndhurst with Dennis Family Homes and about to go to site finally! Only now do they tell us to make sure the pegs are still there.. and of course we did not know this at all, and we’ve driven to our land and all the pegs are no longer in & scattered on the ground. DFH is charging $1260 for someone to re-measure and put the pegs back in. Is this absolutely necessary to pay for a professional to do it? I will hunt around for cheaper on Monday, but just wondering if we could just measure it ourselves?? We have a neighbour already on one side with a fence, and another one starting their build on the other side with a wire fence. Behind us is nothing! Surely we could just measure out 14 x 30m and put the pegs back in ourselves?? Or is that a no no??? Thanks for your help May Re: Missing pegs 2Mar 03, 2018 7:30 pm The tall pegs aren't the actual boundary pegs. Re: Missing pegs 4Mar 04, 2018 9:04 am You don't need a surveyor to peg out your House unless it is a boundary wall & then it's only highly recommended Shop around (3 quotes) a repeg costs around $600 new areas (here in perth) If you have new houses either side use then to check your block, setbacks..if there is an anomaly with the dimensions pay a surveyor Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Missing pegs 5Mar 04, 2018 9:47 am Yes, I'm referring to wording in my bank progress payment contracts that say owners must satisfy themselves that the lots, dwellings are within the required distances as per survey report prior to authorising progress payment. For my peace of mind, I have had a surveyor peg out, site check of formwork before pour and final check once house is completed. My site was unfenced and undeveloped for 2 years so I needed to make sure boundary pegs were still accurate. It is cheaper if you use the same surveyor that did original survey, I paid 550 dollars each site inspection for check, total of 3. Maybe easier to pay builder to organise their own, so that any liability is worn by them. Re: Missing pegs 6Mar 04, 2018 2:15 pm Bashworth has given you the best answer, your survey pegs are still likely to be there. You can measure yourself and dig around the surface where the peg should be. There may still be a peg there or a square hole about 50x50mm where it was. If you are lucky Bingo, if not a re-peg should be $600. Shop around.
