Thats how I began. I looked at lots and lots of plans. You have a sort of wish list which is great. Don't be afraid to push and ask a lot of questions. And don't part with your deposit until you have a fair idea of what the costs of the house are going to be. You have plenty of time. Some will try and get you to commit saying this package is going to end yada yada. But because your land hasn't titled yet. You can run into penalties if you sign up to early and your land gets delayed and then the builder will charge you so much each month to keep the price (which is fair enough) they are there to make money. To use the old cliche but it runs true. Devil is in the details. Also site costs can vary between builders too. Also the display homes are highly upgraded. I think I spent about 43K on top of base price, that included driveway and fencing. Read through some of the threads. I did a lot of that.
