Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 13, 2018 9:57 am Hi all, I have decided to join and start a thread after reading so many experiences and thought maybe this could help someone with a significant slope and sandstone base. We bought land in sept 17 in cascades estate silverdale NSW. Our land has a slope of 4m and we have had many building companies say they will do a build, but pull out after wasting weeks before even looking at the contour plan. We have a very low budget which is limiting us quite a lot. We had allworth homes say they could just do a split and in the confidence that we were saved; we sold our unit (within 2 weeks) in dec 17. Then got a 4.55pm phone call on 09/02/18 from allworth stating that they cant do sloping blocks. Why they didn't hear me stating its a sloping block for weeks on end is a puzzle to me. In the stress of it, I packed the toddler some lunch and dragged him around homeworld at kellyville from open to finish. We spoke to every company and followed the map. We are going a company over a builder because I work with the builders every day in my job and they advised it would save at least $100k. The last builder we spoke to was wincrest. By that stage, I was sick of talking to people in suits trying to lock me into a $400k build when I'm clear enough in saying its a sloping block with a low budget. To my delight; we were met by a carpenter in casual clothes. Hes the estimator . He worked with our budget, explained how he could fit a nice home with the slope. But the best thing about this man; he actually drove straight to our land and checked it out. He had the preliminary tender to us by 4pm. He's not stuffing us around with some ridiculous package or build time. so... fingers crossed wincrest can build us a home because the countdown to homeless is fast approaching. 10th feb 2018 preliminary tender 13th feb 2018 bore hole check (we have m site classification with sandstone) Re: building in cascades silverdale 2Feb 13, 2018 11:02 am Hi Kyes86, I am currently underway in the Cascades. Glad you have sorted out a builder now, I hope they come up with the goods for you. You could try with Montgomery Homes as well if you are still looking at options, they are definately not afraid of a sloping site. Have you found the Cascades Group on Facebook? Good luck with your build. Re: building in cascades silverdale 5Mar 13, 2018 3:57 pm Congrats on getting underway.
