Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 12, 2018 9:52 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hi everyone - hopefully I can get some ideas. We are building our home and the plan shows upstairs. the red section is 4mtrs x 5.8mtrs and is our main bedroom ensuite & WIR. the bedroom looks out over the ocean with the balcony. I have tried to try and get the entrance door into the bedroom at the top (WIR) end as I don't really want to have the bedroom door where it is as I reckon it will make the lounge room difficult to layout. We are intending to have the tv etc on the bedroom wall. Any ideas? thanks Re: master bedroom wir & ensuite HELP 4Feb 13, 2018 1:11 pm Question - Is there a toilet downstairs? ie is this currently a three toilet house? I have no idea of your circumstances, clearly, but if there is a toilet downstairs you may want to consider whether you really need the ensuite. You would still have two toilets in the house. Could you share the bathroom with bed 2? That way you could remove the ensuite, turn the WIR 90 degrees so that it uses the 'top' wall on the pic as the back wall of the WIR, and have a door to the bedroom almost anywhere on that wall apart from where the WIR will end up. Or, alternatively, still remove the ensuite, put WIR where the ensuite is, and have a door into the bedroom on the 'top wall' of the red square, opposite the door to bed 2, and near the door to the bathroom. Not sure if either option will work but just a few ideas. Have seperate entrances for up & down. Laundry is in garage. the lounge dining room is roughly 8mtrs by 5mtrs so don't mind perhaps loosing a bit of lounge to make way for door at wir end. Was thinking of perhaps having a single sided wir. something like below Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ but don't like the long passage way to the bedroom. This is our first build and we are both approaching 60 and intend to leave this house in a box - so need to get it right. I know that this is a really difficult one & no easy solution. I really appreciate all your suggestions. From the information posted it looks to me your rumpus room is nothing more than extended garage. That will present a number of challenges.
