Browse Forums Building A New House Re: All you need to know about Eden Brae 2Sep 01, 2008 1:14 pm When we started looking about 2-3 years ago they didn't build in our council area... Now they do!!!
My comments are based on DH's friends who built with them. They had excellent customer service, they were able to make structural changes too. Where EB fell down was with workmanship!!! For 6 months past handover they had tradies back at least 2-3 times a week to fix things. They have had quite a few probs with their staircase too. Like with all builders, it can be the luck of the draw sometimes... We've had dreadful customer service from the Head Office, but the SS and tradies have been pretty good. We are also so far happy with the quality of the build... although it could be faster... Good Luck Re: All you need to know about Eden Brae 3Sep 01, 2008 2:40 pm Hi Happyhome, I think you've checked out my blog??
After we accepted the fact that EB don't negotiate on ANYTHING, the process seemed to run more smoothly. Or maybe we just gave in to the process Reading the posts on this forum helped a great deal because we discovered that EB were no different than most other builders - generally speaking of course. I think what it came down to, for us, was the fact that we wanted the particular design & that EB was the best out of a bad bunch. As far as customer service goes - our CSR is a saint. I think having her as our admin person has also helped significantly She responds to our emails mostly within a couple of hours, returns our calls promptly, knows her stuff generally & is always polite. I think what EB charges for upgrades though is excessive ! I don't know what other builders charge, so I can't compare. But they obviously have to make a profit on these things. I can PM you with some examples if you like. We're still in council, so can't help with comments on build quality. But hoping the build goes smoothly compared to other nightmare builds detailed on this forum. A workmate of my husband's (who I don't know & would love to talk to) built recently with EB & was happy with the process & quality. So I think either you are a person that is not particular OR you hit the jackpot & have great tradies on your build. Were they efficent in getting the plans ready for council? Our sales guy said it could be in council in 6 weeks time? Could even get approved before yours by the sounds of your blog. Would love that pm. Thanks also to Clarity for your thoughts. Re: All you need to know about Eden Brae 5Sep 01, 2008 5:37 pm Hi Happyhome,
actually found out myself that it was finally approved. LAST WEEK !!!!!! That makes it 8 weeks. Not bad, considering I'd heard how difficult they are. I rang the council, got the DA number & checked it out on their website. Lo & behold, it was approved on the 26th. Called my CSR immediately this arvo & asked why she hadn't notified us. Her answer to that was that she had been leaving messages at the council 'all week' and didn't know about the approval.....mmmmm Anyhow, apparently it'll take council 1-2 weeks to get the paperwork out to EB. They then advise me to go ahead with the demolitoin & they organise construction drawings, etc... She did say that if she gets the documentation from the council within the nxt 2 days (uh huh) , we MIGHT be lucky to start the build by the end of the month . The paperwork is a bummer. Whether your plans get in there in 6 weeks, depends on what & how many changes you make to the standard floorplan. IN addition, how on-the -ball your sales guy is. EB are not the quickest when it comes to changes. But if you can be patient, it's all worth it. It's all part of the process I guess Will PM you tonight with some examples fo pricing.
