Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 11, 2018 2:22 pm I will endeavor to give an unbiased account of our home build from start to finish Planning approval eventually given by Golden Plains Shire [ OMG ] Kings advise construction works commence 08\01\ 2018 anticipated completion 01\10\2018 Slab supervisor informed us works to commence 10\01\2018 which it was ,but advised us their was a delay for the steel frame of between 2 and 3 weeks At the supervisors request [in contract ] we had 10 metres of crushed rock delivered and spread around entry to the property Kings had leftover rock from the slab foundation so they spread that also looking good . I expressed concern over who was doing the plumbing as they did my sons house but was told they were now well sorted, but a day after doing the slab plumbing they were back tearing part of it up and re-routing must have used someone else's plans ?? So slab poured on 23\01\2018 slab looks ok but we had 36 concrete piers in the ground,1.4 m deep to stabilize the land which is flat , seemed like a massive overkill to me however I'm no expert. It will be interesting to see what soil reports the neighbors get on their land. At this stage their is no toilet yet provided so the tradies have been doing their business down the road on another build site . No power has been run in from the street as yet , hard to figure as a bobcat came in to clean up after a wet day and totally mixed up all the crushed rock with the mud, an absolutely crap job and a trench has yet to be dug thru it to run the power. I can see this site turning to mush if there is a lot of rain . Re: jg king Batesford Build 2Feb 12, 2018 8:36 pm Good luck with your build, we are currently building just out of a Ballarat. A few delays, but so far so good. Brick work finished today😊 viewtopic.php?t=90268&f=31&p=1782804#p1782804 Re: jg king Batesford Build 3Feb 14, 2018 2:29 pm Good luck with your build! Do you know who your supervisor for the rest of the build is yet? I imagine in batesford you will have initials SG. If so, he is pretty good, hopefully you'll have a smoother run than we did. Just keep an eye on everything. I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 105579 1 7952 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17609 |
