Browse Forums Building A New House Re: SA Housing Centre - Advice! 3Feb 08, 2018 12:16 pm Thank you for the reply! We are praying that if we do use Homestart it isn't a long term thing. Get us ur home and then refinance as soon as possible. We have been renting for 7 years paying pretty much what a $300,000 mortgage would cost us, so it is just time to get out of the rut. We put so much more into out rental properties to try to make them home and get nothing in return. You have inspired me to look at more options through Fairmont (we thought they were to pricy), but funnily enough the estate we are looking at just released a whole heap of new H&L Packages well on par with SA Housing Centre. Something you might be able to answer Fairmont packages seem have two wording variations " Fixed Price Footings" and "Capped Price Footings". They make it so hard to decipher without getting a sales pitch hehe. Best of luck with your build. I think you are right about Keystart (finally found a website), albeit they seem to work with the major banks etc too. So ultimately I think they are just their in house broker. Re: SA Housing Centre - Advice! 4Jul 31, 2018 9:08 pm I know this may be a little late for some but a few things with SA Housing Centre (I’m building the Idaho Alfresco). 1. The 10k is if you go with KeyStart and take the mortgage with homestart. Keep in mind if you refinance relatively soon you may need to repay the $10k. 2. The house price is just the basic standard house. Your site works and a few other things that are compulsory will go on top. (Depending on the area it could add an extra $45k on the price.). 3. Really think about what’s important and what can wait. Raised ceilings is something you need to do when building (approximately $4,700) but fancy light switches, lights, fittings and doors can be upgraded down the track). 4. The process is easier and relaxing. Keep in mind you still have a lot going on but they talk you through it and will answer all your questions. 5. Your frontage you choose can vary from $1,900 up to $13,000 keep that in mind too. The floor plans SAHC have are great, many people have intentionally built with them purely for the layouts. The one key thing I would say they are that bit better than other builders is not once has any employee ever spoke negatively of other builders. (Yet we have been to display homes of other companies who have spoken negatively of other builders). I would recommend talking to a consultant with what you want and what your budget is and if you aren’t being stupid with it they will do their best to work within those constraints, they will let you review what they’ve put down and then change where necessary. Re: SA Housing Centre - Advice! 5Jun 30, 2019 4:13 pm Did you end up building with SAHousing MissSoph Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has built with SA Housing Centre at all? We are looking at the Idaho MK2 Alfresco design that is on Display at Virginia Grove at the moment and albeit a few months off of being ready to sign our lives away, we wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience with them in South Australia. We know they are a division of Hickinbotham. The guy also mentioned a $10,000 grant from them on top of FHOG, but wouldn't tell me anymore until we spoke to the finance division. Guh... Any information on this would be fabulous, surely it can't be the case? Free money sounds fishy.. Looking at using Homestart for finance if we have to, mainly so we can continue saving during the build so we can continue saving for the unexpected costs and hopefully some left over money for finishing the home to some extent anyway! Looking for any advise/ experience with Homestart too if you have any... Thank you in advance Hi All, see above image.
