There was a problem in gas connection so builder fixed it through brick wall.

My question is, colour of mortar between bricks are different.
Is it impossible to match colour ? Or just my builder is negligent in his job?
And, I checked gas gauge every three days.
I didn't use any gas appliance for three days, and gauge moved about 2 units.
The plumber says it does not cause any problems.
I wonder is it normal for the gauge to move when no gas has been used?
