The facade is stretched from the original design to include a study and some storage space as i dont have much space for external shed. 1. Do you think it is unusual to have a study adjacent to kitchen ? 2. There are two entries ( highlighted in red) to Theatre which is not a dedicated theatre room. Its a formal lounge and hoping to have projector in the future. My question is, do the two entries look Odd ? Anybody built with similar entry foyer design ? Do you suggest two doors instead ? But would that make it feel like school corridor ? I am confused The foyer is 1800 mm wide by the way Regards, JJose Re: Suggestion re entry foyer and study 2Nov 07, 2018 6:33 am It's unusual to have a room that's a study near the kitchen like that, but I've certainly seen a few places with "study nooks", set up so Mum can be prepping dinner or whatever while still having an eye on the kids doing their homework. So as a general idea, I've seen it before. What are the rules on windows? I think either "bedrooms" or "habitable rooms" need to have windows, unsure which, and hence it may need to be called "store" on the plan for it to be legal. I also don't think the entryway design looks strange, although I'd fit sliders to those two doorways; I reckon that for a TV-watching room you do want to be able to close it off occasionally. Re: Suggestion re entry foyer and study 3Nov 07, 2018 12:11 pm I agree with the above comments about the theatre - being able to shut out the noise from the rest of the house is always good. Regarding the the two doors into the theatre, it's not uncommon at all - there are a number of display homes near me that have that design, and I quite like it. Definitely gives a bit of symmetry. Re: Suggestion re entry foyer and study 4Nov 07, 2018 12:21 pm Personally, I would remove the door (nearest to the front door) into the Theatre room and make the other one wider. It will be very hard to hook back the front door with the opening behind it. As to the study, I think it's in a great spot. I would probably just put a high glass window in the wall opposite the door as you should be able to get some light in from the front window in the storage area. Then it won't feel like a cupboard. I would put a cavity slider on it to have more usable space. Re: Suggestion re entry foyer and study 5Nov 07, 2018 1:15 pm Well my local cinema has two exits, one at each side, but then again it needs to cope with hundreds of people exiting at once! I think having two exits is a bit excessive for a home cinema, especially, as described above, the front door opens right onto one of the exits. As for the study, I'm kinda looking primarily at your garage with the window and the linen cupboard in the garage, which seems a slightly odd place to put a linen cupboard, as the garage can get a bit cold and damp in winter. Why not extend the study all the way to that external window, for some natural light, and then put the linen cupboard somewhere at the entrance of the study?
