I have a bunch of questions for anyone experienced in this stuff.
We chose a settlement agent and have received their contract to represent us. There is a conflict of interest that has been declared by them. It seems our mortgage broker, settlement agent, and builder are all owned by the same company. Will this affect us negatively in any way?
The way I see it, the settlement agent is only dealing with the developer who we are buying the land off - and there is no conflict of interest there. So this won’t come back around to bite me will it?
And another question:
We have signed our preliminary works agreement, and it seems we’re going to have our building contracts before the land even titles. Should we wait until the land has titled to sign the building contract?
