Can't wait to see the bricks up, they look so blue against a charcoal roof tile. Re: Barbie Dream House - First Build in Port Stephens 144Jun 04, 2018 6:35 am We are now at the beginning of Week 5 and roof tiles are complete with bricks about 90% done! Our nextdoor neighbour had their bricks delivered three weeks ago and they are still sitting in piles on their block. I love my portico pillars! Re: Barbie Dream House - First Build in Port Stephens 147Jun 11, 2018 8:08 am Electrical and plumbing rough in complete, timber panelling to portico installed (it will have a black timber stain, same as front door) and there's a pile of gyprock waiting in the garage. So much progress!! Not so keen on your pond, we have one of those too. Re: Barbie Dream House - First Build in Port Stephens 150Jun 16, 2018 10:33 pm Hi. I am brand new here looking for hints and tips but primarily for underfloor heating type posts and how to go about it, your comments appeared in the search. Could you tell me about what you came out of Reece with and the underfloor heating you chose in general. I've had a quote 14,800 come back for the house, basically in screed ground floor and 2 bathrooms upstairs and radiators for the rooms but I am concerned about how to go about this with the builder (Simonds) the sales lady wasnt much help and seemed to think i'd have to talk about this with site manager but others say NO make sure there is mention within the contract before signing. We'd fund this ourselves off contract not included in loan for various reasons but just was hoping maybe someone who'd recently done this might have some insight... Or anything to add to the myriad of confusin.. Thanks Lot126 No commencement letter or start date yet but I'm sure both aren't too far away, and honestly having another week or so to save is a really good thing. I'm telling myself to be less impatient. Reece was so fun! Most things we were certain of but we walked out with a variation for fancy rimless toilets and underfloor heating! We are building with a small local project builder and they have priced Stiebel Eltron in-screed underfloor heating kits at $1224 to the main bathroom and $1098 to the ensuite. This doesn't include the shower floors or the space directly beneath floating vanities. https://www.stiebel.com.au/under-floor-heating Our consultant at Reece was fantastic. I'd suggest attending your local branch for more information and as with any build, include everything in your contract and don't sign off until you're certain it's what you want, despite pressure from your builder's sales team. Good luck! ~ Emma Re: Barbie Dream House - First Build in Port Stephens 154Jun 24, 2018 2:49 pm Wow you build seems to coming along very nicely, everything looks great. We are having the highland blackheath bricks too. Re: Barbie Dream House - First Build in Port Stephens 155Jul 07, 2018 7:53 am Gyprock done, waterproofing done, glass installed in the picture window, the electrician was onsite yesterday pulling cables through walls and there was a pile of cornice waiting in the garage on Sunday. We got a call from the builder on Tuesday asking if we'd be willing to reselect tiles with a new supplier. I feel our tastes have changed a LOT since actually seeing the house go up so I'm really excited! Walk through with new company tomorrow, then actual selection next Saturday. I'd love to do floor to ceiling tiling to the ensuite and a larger format tile throughout, all in a much darker colour than previously chosen. Starting to think more about driveway now. I think we'll be moving in without one and waiting a few weeks to save up for black exposed aggregate. I also like how you have wide portico pillars. Go around and count control joints for brick make sure they have placed control joints to drawing. I have two missing control joints. Re: Barbie Dream House - First Build in Port Stephens 158Jul 07, 2018 6:19 pm Your place is going to be stunning! Re: Barbie Dream House - First Build in Port Stephens 160Jul 08, 2018 3:45 pm Excitement overload following new tile selection this morning -- we have a kitchen!! The dark and moody colour scheme I've agonised over for months seems to be a winner! The lovely tile lady was a bit shocked we're at this stage without tiles, she's going to confirm stock and send us a pricing to sign off on tomorrow so everything can be ordered ASAP. Tile Direct at Beresfield are brilliant! Our new majority floor tile is charcoal with a linear almost timber grain pattern, and graphite grout. The grout and tile colours look almost seamless! All wet areas (floors and walls) have a lighter grey marble tile, with misty grey grout. Ensuite will hopefully be tiled to the ceiling if it doesn't cost too much! Main bathroom and powder room are tiled 1000mm high. Butler's Pantry and Laundry splashback will be white subway tiles laid in a stack bond, with white grout. Our only upgrades will be the graphite grout and the floor to ceiling tiles. I'm really pleased with what we've chosen and omg I just hope it's all in stock!!
