Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 28, 2016 8:00 pm So here we go! Our story..I am a married school teacher with to Kids, 12 and 7 and we are just about to start our building our new home, a Coral Daydream 32 in the Hunter Valley. It feels like forever, with us depositing on the land Feb 2015, which finally settled Late January. And today we finally got notification, via the online council tracker, that our plans have been approved after 2 months. Just before our tender was about to run out next week. (so hopefully will avoid the fees). Hoping that this means that our build will start within the next 4 weeks. Re: Coral Daydream 32 3May 28, 2016 8:16 pm Hi becs! Wow a daydream 32, thats big! You look like you have enough yard space for that floor plan! If you get the formal approval from head office in the next few days, the start date should be about 2 weeks from your notification letter. Good luck and looking forward to following your build! We have a good sized block 759m2. The payoff for this bigggish block was having the electrical easement on the front. Hubby doesn't want too much yard to mow, so hoping with our future plans for a pool and landscaping, the yard will be a perfect size. We have a great park just up the road from us and great footpaths all around our estate so think this kids. Particularly our youngest will spend a lot of time there Playing Re: Coral Daydream 32 7May 28, 2016 9:46 pm Looking forward to seeing pics of that red door. Oldies is getting a red door too! We will be building a Noosa 26 and plan on having urban kitchen benches with white cabinets. Best of luck with your build ![]() Re: Coral Daydream 32 9May 28, 2016 10:34 pm Yes! I must check out that colour, wildberry deluxe. (It sounds delicious!) Ours is just to match colorbond Manor Red. (gutters and garage door same colour) I don't know if you have the same pool companies where you are. We are going with Leisure Pools Allure design. Have you chosen yours yet? That'll be the next excitement after the house is complete. Re: Coral Daydream 32 10May 29, 2016 8:03 am ![]() Looks great Bec!!! We have similar colour choices! Eclipse bricks but with a monument roof.... Urban bench and polar white silk as well ![]() Will be great watching yours come along. There is a new display home that opened a couple of weeks ago near us with the same kitchen combinations as us and it looks beautiful. It was nice to see it come together. What sort if splash back are you having. We are having Half Brume glass, which is a very light, grey. I wanted not white and not grey so this is between. That'll be the next excitement after the house is complete. It will be great to see another red door. I have always loved red and when we went to Ireland a few years ago I loved all the gorgeous little cottages with the red doors. Whilst our home certainly isn't a little cottage, they are what set the inspiration for the colours. We have a large portico so I hope you can see it enough. We did some preliminary looking around at pool companies last year but have decided to wait to the build is finished before we start that. We did go to Leisure Pools ,( in fact my son goes to school with the kids of the owners of the local business),but really haven't decided. So some of our Selectons: Our main floor tiling, including portico and alfresco is this Heartwood white tile. We were wanting the plank, light wooden looking tiles but were so expensive so found these which I live and will be laid in a staggered brickbond pattern a bit like floor boards. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our ensuite will be all charcoal using the Alaska Charcoal for all floors and wall. It's a bit bold but is a pretty big ensuite so have taken a risk with it. We haven't got any feature tiles here thinking the boldness will be a feature in itself. Bench tops in both bathrooms are Osprey caesarstone with New graphite cabinets. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ For the main bathroom we have the same Alaskan Charcoal for the floor and bathhob but have chosen Cooper Grey tile for the walls. The Cooper Grey is very light grey, almost white with a slight texture. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our laundry and pantry we'll have New Graphite cupboards, with Pure Calcite benchtops and a slightly wavy white subway tile with dark grey grout. Our portico will be rendered in endless Dusk. I am a bit worried about this colour. I wanted a very light grey and was talked into this by the colour consultant as she said it will look lighter in the sun. Inside we have gone safe, with the colour consultants suggestion again of snowing Mountains half for everything. Once again I am questioning this. I do like the colour but think I want a whiter white for architraves skirting and doors. Has anyone managed to change their colours in consultation with their painters? They are our main selections. We have kept it all pretty neutral. Am looking forward to decking out the kids rooms. Have lots of lovely accessories already. Other things we have are our gorgeous concrete pendants for the kitchen, and laybuyed a beautiful concrete dining table and coffee table and funky lounge for the living area. Re: Coral Daydream 32 20May 29, 2016 6:55 pm Loving the selections you have decided Bec! We have such similar taste! I am seriously thinking about choosing a wood like tile and laying it in brick bond or a cement grey 600x600 and our ensuite will be dark charcoal. I can't wait to see your build come to life, going to look ah-mazing!! Very industrial ![]() ps if you are over in greenbridge east you will more then likely only need an m class slab so there is a bit of a saving there 11 3849 ![]() Hi members, Hope everyone is sound and well.
