Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 13, 2017 12:16 am Myself and my husband are currently building our second home - This one in Ocean Road Estate. We are about 4 weeks out from PCI however I have found this forum to be a fantastic resource whilst building so I have decided to start blogging our home building journey. I will try and provide as much detail and information regarding pricing, colour selections, feedback on what has work and what I wish we had done differently. Enjoy! Re: Impressions Build @ Ocean Road Estate 2Mar 13, 2017 3:06 am Our home building journey began when we impulsively put down an offer on a block in Ocean Road Estate in November of 2016. We had previously bought a house in Ellenbrook 6 months prior, with the idea that it would one day become an investment property.
We didn't expect to start building so soon however we had been eyeing off Ocean Road Estate. We decided to stop by one day and found a 540sqm block that was elevated above everybody else. It was one of the last blocks available as it was an odd shaped 'L' block. As soon as we saw it, we saw its potential. Our intention was to build a house down one side of the block so that it the entire house overlooked/opened up to the yard. We ended up getting the block for $395,000. We bought the block blind so to say! We did not speak with any builders until after we made the purchase (In hindsight this was definitely stupid). We were extremely lucky in that there were in BAL or coastal requirements and did not encounter any problems during site works. PHEW! We are excited to be part of the Ocean Road Estate community, especially due to the growth of the area.
