Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 21, 2018 9:28 am Hi, Doing a double storey (Merricks) and for the ground level wanted to get split air cons after handover. M says they can do the provision which reads as below: "RS-ELE-POW-005 20amp single phase circuit with external isolating switch for air conditioning unit - $200' Would this serve the purpose? Any experiences please. Re: Provision for Split Aircon - Metricon 3Jan 21, 2018 2:34 pm D350mh That would be just the isolating switch to where the outdoor unit would be placed. They are running the power from the meter box to the outdoor unit location for you. Re: Provision for Split Aircon - Metricon 5Jan 21, 2018 3:25 pm D350mh If you were to get an air conditioner installed post construction, the installer would install this isolating switch regardless. It is now an Australian standard. Re: Provision for Split Aircon - Metricon 6Jan 21, 2018 3:31 pm If the builder does it, they have to option to run it through the walls so there is no conduit visible on the exterior between the meter board on the isolating switch. I don't think you would save $200 off the price of the install of the air conditioning unit itself because of this, though.
