Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 20, 2018 6:58 pm Looking to sign up for a two storey kit home we have had designed. I’m trying to understand the trade-offs of using a full slab for the lower level versus only the area where the garage/store room/laundry will be located. The rest of the space is open; this is half the area. What I’m trying to understand if it would be better to do a complete slab on the bottom on the basis this may simplify the structural design of the supporting piers. Ie can they be positioned on top of the slab versus being sunk into the ground. We don’t need the open area concreted for lifestyle reasons. Area - Top: 232, Bottom 93 Class P site This is a 'holiday coast' house and the current concept is shown below. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Interested in any thoughts/experiences.
